Andrews To Be Tried Again On Double-Murder Charges
Joseph Andrews will be go on trial a second time May 19 on two murder charges, a Spokane County judge ruled Friday.
Andrews, 27, went through a three-week trial in February that ended in a hung jury. He faced a possible death penalty if convicted of killing Larry Eaves and Eloise “Cissy” Patrick.
The murders occurred near downtown in February 1994. Investigators arrested Andrews in California and charged him with aggravated murder, saying he killed the pair in a car after arguing over a drug debt.
After the hung jury, Spokane County Prosecutor Jim Sweetser dropped the capital punishment option against Andrews. But if convicted of aggravated murder, Andrews would face life in prison without parole.
Prosecutors are expected to present the same case against Andrews, using his former girlfriend, who testified in the first trial that she was with him when he killed Patrick and Eaves. , DataTimes
