Daughter Accused Of Poisoning Mom

Compiled From Wire Services

A 13-year-old girl was charged with attempted murder after a teacher heard her telling a classmate she was putting rat poison in her mother’s food.

The girl, whose name wasn’t released, was charged Thursday after tests showed her mother had arsenic in her blood.

School officials notified police. The girl told investigators she had been joking.

But police asked the mother to get a blood test, which showed enough arsenic in her blood to cause illness but not death, police said.

Police didn’t know why the girl would want to kill her mother.
