Family Council Opposes Free Books About Gay Families

Associated Press

The Washington Family Council wants the city school district to refuse free books about homosexual families.

The Family Council said discussing homosexuality with children is the role of parents - not the schools.

The district has agreed to purchase the books with a $6,000 grant from Seattle City Councilwoman Tina Podlodowski and her partner.

The books include “Heather Has Two Mommies” and “Daddy’s Roommate.”

School officials say the books spread understanding about various types of families.
