Justice Swift, Merciless In School Shootings

Compiled From Wire Services

Several thousand people chanted “Allahu Akbar,” or “God is Great,” when an executioner fired several shots Saturday into the chest of a man convicted of killing six people in two high schools.

Mohammed al-Nazari was executed in an empty lot between the two schools.

He was sentenced to death Monday for killings on Sunday.

Al-Nazari had waited outside the Al-Tallai high school, which his two daughters attend.

When the headmistress arrived, he fatally shot her in the head. He killed a cafeteria employee and wounded a bus driver who tried to block him from entering the school.

He then went from classroom to classroom, killing three children and one teacher before walking to the nearby Moussa bin Nussair High School to kill another teacher.

Witnesses said he was distraught at “indiscretions” by his teenage daughters, but they did not elaborate.

On Wednesday, a court rejected his appeal and ruled he should be executed and his corpse nailed to a cross and displayed in public for three days. Yemen’s Supreme Court ruled Thursday against displaying the body in public.
