Moscow Sweeps St. Maries In 2 Sports

Blake Jensen struck out nine and walked one Saturday as visiting Moscow beat St. Maries 4-2 to complete an Intermountain League baseball sweep.

The Bears won the opener 7-4 as Travis Poole struck out 11, and Evan Stewart homered and had three RBIs. D.J. Eberlin of the Lumberjacks (3-3) had three RBIs in the second game.

Emily Schupe had four RBIs to lead the opening-game win.

Matt Conrath hit a grand slam during an 11-run sixth inning as first-place Cheney defeated visiting West Valley 20-6 to complete a Frontier League doubleheader sweep.

Cheney (5-0) won the opener 12-2 as Tucker Urdahl (4-0) struck out eight. Pat Stiffler drove in three runs for Cheney, and he and Colin Fiddes both went 2 for 3.

Jason Phillipe and Beau Macarty homered for the Eagles (2-4) in the second game.

Rachelle Watson was 3 for 3 with two RBIs and Richiah Boxley added three RBIs in the opener, when Sohns faced two more than the minimum. Gabby McClintock’s two-run triple in the first started WV rolling in the second game.
