Nina Culver Correspondent

Silver Spurs will celebrate 50 years of dance with a three-day Spring Break carnival behind the Eagles Lodge at 315 E. Francis, Friday through next Sunday, April 13.

The carnival, the group’s main fundraiser, will feature rides, games and food.

Silver Spurs, whose members are students in grades five through 12, travels each year, dressed in authentic costumes, performing folk dances from Europe, Russia and Latin America. Last year, they visited London, Belgium, Germany and Amsterdam. This year the group plans to travel to Oregon.

Silver Spurs officials are searching for old photographs, documents and newspaper articles to add to the group’s archives. Alumni are also asked to contact the Silver Spurs office for a reunion information. If you can help in either instance, call 326-2793.

The Silver Spurs will hold its annual Spring Dance Concert on Sunday, May 11, at The Met. Showtime is at 3 p.m. Tickets - $4 for adults, $2.50 for seniors and youth, or $10 per family - will be available at the door.

Students in grades five though 11, interested in joining Silver Spurs, can call 533-9966.
