Council To Discuss City Shop Plan

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Spokane City Council tonight will consider paying for a study to determine how a city shop will affect its neighbors.

City-owned cars and trucks currently are serviced and stored at several locations around Spokane. Officials want to consolidate those activities on about 28 acres at Perry and North Foothills Road.

The city already has spent about $354,000 on architectural plans, but the project is opposed by many Logan neighborhood residents.

The center has not yet been approved by the City Council.

The proposed $59,000 study, by ALSC Architects, would be aimed at determining how the center would affect neighborhood traffic and air pollution. Those are among the chief concerns of neighbors.

The council meets for a briefing at 3:30 p.m. in the lower level of City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd. The regular meeting, including the discussion of the proposed study, starts at 6 p.m. in the City Council chambers. , DataTimes
