Cv’s Eigenhuis Sharp In First Outing Of Season

REPLAY: Sports, April 10, 1997 Eric Hayden had a home run, his second, and Nick Bender and Tim Snell had singles for Shadle Park in Tuesday’s Greater Spokane League baseball game at Central Valley. The hits were not reported by the home team for Wednesday’s edition of The Spokesman-Review.

The return of Erick Eigenhuis instantly paid off for Central Valley.

Eigenhuis pitched a three-hitter and struck out 11 Tuesday to guide CV (2-2) to a 10-3 Greater Spokane League baseball win at Shadle Park (2-2). Eigenhuis, an all-league returner, hadn’t pitched this spring because of a sore shoulder.

Ben Miller hit a three-run homer in the second and Brian Chance a three-run shot in the seventh for the Bears.

Grant Reeves struck out 14, hit two homers and had eight RBIs as the Panthers (3-1) topped the visiting Tigers (1-3).

Reeves had two- and three-run shots.

Joel Calkins had a two-run single and Colin Donahoe a two-run double for Mead. Both were pinch-hitting.

Aaron Fryer’s solo homer in the third put U-Hi on top. NC’s Aaron Farr tied the game with an RBI double in the sixth.
