Elderly Man’s Death Ruled A Homicide

From Staff And Wire Reports

Sheriff’s detectives ruled the death of an elderly Otis Orchards man a homicide after an autopsy performed Friday showed the 75-year-old man was beaten to death.

Henry Heid died from several blows to the head with a blunt object, said Lt. John Simmons. Detectives have not found the murder weapon, and are uncertain what Heid was beaten with, Simmons said.

Heid’s body was found Wednesday afternoon in his garage by his younger brother and two family friends. He appeared to have been dead overnight.

Robbery is a possible motive for the killing, but detectives have no suspects, Simmons said. Detectives are still trying to determine if anything was taken from Heid’s farmhouse, which was not ransacked.

Family members did not notice anything missing, Simmons said.

Heid had been an Otis Orchards resident for more than 50 years.
