Teen Torches Home Of Ex-Girlfriend; 6 Die

Associated Press

A jilted teenager set fire to the home of his ex-girlfriend on Friday, killing the girl, her new boyfriend and four of the girl’s family members, police said.

Police arrested Freddy Rusi, 16, on Friday for the six deaths in Puerto Mocho, a Caribbean coast fishing village, 375 miles north of Bogota.

The only survivor, Francisco Cano, said Rusi had blocked the door to the house. Cano said he bashed through the door to escape.

In addition to the 14-year-old girl and her boyfriend, the dead included two children ages 3 and 5, and two adult family members, local police commander Gen. Paulino Marca Daza said.
