King, Kxly-TV Stations Win Awards

KING-TV of Seattle and KXLY-TV of Spokane won first-place awards for best scheduled newscast in the Washington Associated Press Broadcasters contest.

Radio winners for best scheduled newscast were KOMO-AM of Seattle and KGMI-AM of Bellingham.

The winners were announced Tuesday. Awards will be presented April 26 in Spokane at a joint meeting of the Washington Associated Press Broadcasters and the regional Radio-Television News Directors Association. Entries were judged by AP-member stations in New Jersey.

KING-TV and KOMO won among stations in the Seattle metro area, while KXLY-TV and KGMI were winners among stations outside Seattle.

KREM-TV of Spokane won three first place awards among stations outside the Seattle metro area, and KXLY won two.
