Hand-Held Hair Dryers Recalled As Dangerous

Compiled From Wire Services

A company recalled about 8,000 hand-held hair dryers Monday because they pose a risk of electrocution if dropped in water while plugged in, regardless of whether they have been turned off.

Division Sales Inc., of Itasca, Ill., announced the recall in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The trouble is that the dryers lack a special plug that protects against electrical dangers, the commission said.

The hair dryer is made of white plastic and has the words “Professional Styler … Asbestos Free … HD-20 … Made in China” printed on it. The dryer comes packaged in a triangle-shaped cardboard box, labeled “Professional Hair Dryer HD-20” with a picture of it on front.

Consumers can call the company at 1-800-621-8134 for more information.
