East Wenatchee Residents Tired Of Ties To Larger Neighbor

From Staff And Wire Reports

Tired of being linked to a larger neighbor or being reduced to an abbreviation, the City Council is considering a name change.

“Make this a community with our own identity,” East Wenatchee Councilman Larry Frack said Monday in suggesting a public vote on a new name for the city across the Columbia River from Wenatchee.

Mayor Dawn Collings said the city is often confused with its larger neighbor or written as an abbreviation. A plaque given to the council Monday listed it as E. Wenatchee.
