St. Maries School District Levy Passes

Voters in the St. Maries School District gave overwhelming approval to a $335,000 supplemental levy Tuesday.

The measure passed with a 79 percent “yes” vote, the biggest margin in district history, according to Superintendent Dave Cox.

Cox said the two years of additional property taxes will be used for buses and general maintenance. “It also allows us to continue several special programs,” he said.

The final vote was 253 in favor, 67 opposed. A simple majority was needed for passage.
