Two Concerts Help Hobart’s Lounge Honor Japan Week

Hobart’s Jazz Lounge at Cavanaugh’s Fourth Avenue is celebrating Japan Week with two special concerts.

The Koji and Mina Harada Quartet will perform tonight from 8 to midnight. Koji Harada is an accomplished jazz pianist and his wife, Mina, sings a variety of jazz standards and classics.

Tickets are $3 at the door.

The Deems Tsutakawa Quartet will perform from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Tsutakawa, a jazz pianist born in Seattle, has performed with Kenny G, Roy Ayers and Julienne Priester. The concert will feature selections from his most recent CD, “Deems Plays for Lovers.”

He will be joined on stage by Spokane performers Gary Edighoffer (woodwinds), Eugene Jablonsky (bass) and Rick Westrick (drums).

Cover is $4 at the door and $3 for students with ID.
