Bring On The Bucks - It’s Bingo

Sudha Nandagopal And Kristin Lewis Mead High School

What comes to mind when you think of bingo? Do you see dozens of elderly people meeting in a smoke-filled parlor? Do you imagine lonely people with nothing else to do? Three to five dollar cards that have little or no chance of winning?

Shatter that image!

Mead High School’s debate team is hosting Bingo Night on May 2. No, it’s not just for the elderly. All ages can have fun at a night like this - teens included. There will be plenty of pizza, prizes, popcorn and more. Bingo cards will cost only $1 each, or six for $5.

Local businesses have generously donated prizes, such as a year’s supply of coffee from Gloria Jean’s, pearl earrings from Zales and gift certificates to various stores. Because of this generosity, the team has collected more than 60 prizes; your chances of winning something are very high. But you must come and play first!

The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. in Mead’s west cafeteria. The money raised will go toward funding Mead’s debate team, providing transportation and allowing the team to enter tournaments. This funding is essential due to pending budget cuts.

So, come one and all. We need you. And it’s fun!
