Lane Leader In Decathlon

Dusty Lane of Community Colleges of Spokane shattered a Dan O’Brien record en route to the first-day lead in the decathlon at the NWAACC Mult-Event Championships on Monday.

Lane, who has 3,524 points in five events, ran the 400 meters in a conference multi-events record 49.94 seconds. O’Brien set the mark of 50.2 for CCS in 1988.

Lane also won the 100 in 10.7.

CCS teammate Jon Bell, who led the shot put (39-5-1/4), is third after five events with 3,335 points. Rocky Simpson of Lower Columbia is second with 3,363.

In the women’s heptathlon, Stephanie Pellegrini of CCS is fifth with 1,816 points in four events.

Brook Wilson of Clark leads with 2,621.
