Man Dragged By Car During Fight

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 19-year-old man was killed when he was hit by a car and dragged up a hill during a fight at a party, police said.

The King County medical examiner’s office identified the dead man as Todd Fairchild of Federal Way.

Federal Way police were called early Sunday morning to investigate reports of fighting at a home where a party was being held.

The fight had spilled into the street when a black Chevrolet pulled up, a passenger got out and took a tire iron from the trunk, police said.

When other people attacked the driver and broke some of the car’s windows, the driver backed the car away and then surged forward, hitting Fairchild, who became lodged underneath the vehicle, police said.

The car dragged him 400 yards before his body broke free, police said.

Fairchild was pronounced dead a short time later.
