Liquor, Sex Reign In Halls Of Moscow

Associated Press

A Moscow daily sent two female reporters into Parliament’s lower house to investigate allegations of nighttime debauchery at the Duma. Their report Tuesday: Drunken men immediately tried to seduce them.

The two legislative aides, encountered in the Duma cafeteria, even told the women they could open up one of the offices for some quick sex.

Later, the reporters found people in an office drinking and celebrating another aide’s birthday, the Moskovsky Komsomolets paper said.

The aide, who was not identified, had built a pyramid of vodka bottle caps, the newspaper said, adding that “it’s now fashionable in the Duma to see whose pyramid is higher.”

The two Moskovsky Komsomolets reporters appeared to have no problem gaining access in the Duma. They said they managed to persuade a guard to let them shower in the offices of ultranationalist lawmaker Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
