Playfair Receives State Approval To Launch Full-Card Simulcasting
Playfair Race Course and Yakima Meadows will begin full-card simulcasting from four racetracks Thursday, now that the Washington Horse Racing Commission has put its stamp of approval on the newly legislated practice.
The WHRC, meeting Tuesday at SeaTac, also adjusted live racing dates for the two tracks.
Playfair and Yakima Meadows will be allowed up to 12 continuous hours of simulcasting five days per week. In addition to the active California tracks, Hollywood Park and Golden Gate Fields, they plan to show races from Emerald Downs, Washington’s currently active track, as well as Churchill Downs and Lone Star Park, the new track in Texas.
Under revised schedules, Playfair will open its live meet at Spokane on Aug. 16 and run through Nov. 18. Yakima Meadows will operate from Nov. 21 through March 29.
