Season-Ticket Sales Close In On 43,000

A total of 55 season-ticket packages have been sold at the Seahawks ticket booth at their Cheney training camp site.

Overall, the Seahawks have sold nearly 43,000 season tickets.

Regular-season, single-season tickets go on sale at the Kingdome Aug. 16, when the Seahawks host the Colts. On Aug. 17, fans will be able to order single-season tickets through Ticketmaster at 1-509-453-7139 or at the Kingdome box office.

A total of 47,000 tickets have been distributed for Saturday’s 7 p.m. preseason game against Arizona. It will be televised live on KHQ-TV Channel 6.

Eastern Washington fans who would like to purchase tickets for Saturday’s exhibition may telephone Ticketmaster. Tickets also may be purchased at Gate D at the Kingdome.

Enjoying the experience

Since training camp opened on July 15, a total of 7,484 children and adults have passed through the turnstile at the NFL Experience.

The area, set up on the Eastern Washington University tennis courts just a hop, skip and a jump away from the practice field, includes three games. Next year (if the Seahawks return to Cheney), three more activities will be added, according to Chelle Pell, director of the NFL Experience.

Pell, an EWU recreation management major, predicts the number of participants will be more than 10,000. The 10,000th person through the turnstile will receive a gift.

“The Seahawks are more than pleased with what we’ve done,” Pell said.

A Behring in the house

Former club president David Behring attended practice Tuesday and apparently liked the atmosphere that’s been created by the open practices.

“It’s good for the players. I think it makes them play harder,” said Behring. “If they (spectators) boo them, they know they have to play harder next time.”

Behring was replaced as president by Bob Whitsitt in June, when Paul Allen exercised his option to by the team from David’s father, Ken Behring.

Coming up

The Seahawks will have a short practice this afternoon (no spectators) and will leave for Seattle on Saturday morning. The next open practice will be Monday from 3-5 p.m.

Those expected to will miss the game because of injuries are Howard “House” Ballard (knee), Marc Spindler (calf), Pat Riley (foot), James McKnight (hamstring), Eric Stokes (hamstring) and Jamal Clark (wrist).

Jemery Lincoln missed Thursday’s practice because of the flu. However, Jason Kyle, Reggie Brown and Alonzo Hampton returned to the field.

Saturday’s game will mark the debut of former Arizona State star Jake Plummer. The 6-foot-2 quarterback from Boise is listed fourth on the Cardinals’ depth chart (behind Kent Graham, Stoney Case and Chad May) and is expected to play in the fourth quarter.
