It was a peaceful night in New York when Kathie Lee Gifford and her husband, Frank Gifford, emerged from the restaurant 21. Then Kathie Lee spotted some paparazzi.
“She totally freaked out,” said one eyewitness. “She yelled at Frank that this was all his fault and that he’d ruined everything. Then she accused 21 of calling the press.”
The restaurant claimed ignorance. “They were not happy that there were photographers,” said 21 maitre d’ Bryan McGuire. “But we do not call the press on our clientele.”
As for Frank, he’d reached the limits of his patience, too. According to photog Larry Schwartzwald, Gifford walked up to a security guard and asked, “Can I borrow your gun?”
