Wife Dies, Husband Badly Hurt In 4-Car Wreck

From Staff And Wire Reports

An 86-year-old Sandpoint man remained in critical condition Monday after a four-car, head-on collision on U.S. Highway 95 that killed his wife on Sunday.

Aaron and Ruth Keegan were heading north late Sunday when their 1989 Buick crossed the center line and hit a 1986 Jeep Cherokee driven by Marinell Rogerson near the Long Bridge into Sandpoint, the Idaho State Police said.

Ruth Keegan, 85, was pronounced dead at Bonner General Hospital, the ISP said. Aaron Keegan was flown to Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane where he was listed in critical condition, a nursing supervisor said.

After colliding with the Keegans’ car, Rogerson’s Jeep slid into the northbound lane and was hit by a 1992 Dodge pickup. The Keegans’ car continued into a second southbound pickup driven by Camilla R. Lawson of Sandpoint.

Lawson, 18, was taken to Bonner General Hospital where she was treated and released.

Rogerson, 40 of Bonners Ferry, and Feodor Kreiden, a 61-year-old Sandpoint resident who was driving the Dodge, were not injured.
