With a rush of six birdies and an eagle in an eight-hole span, Greg Norman and Brad Faxon left no doubt that they are the unchallenged masters of the Fred Meyer Challenge in West Linn, Ore.

Norman and Faxon won the Challange for the third consecutive time, shooting an 8-under-par 63 in the second round for a course record 19-under 123 total, three shots better than Phil Mickelson and Jay Haas.

Steve Elkington and Craig Stadler were third at 127, one shot ahead of Arnold Palmer and Peter Jacobsen.

Virginia Derby Grimes of Montgomery, Ala., shot a 1-under-par 72 to take the top qualifying spot for match play in the 97th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship in West Newton, Mass.
