Charge Filed In Death Of Motorcyclists

From Staff And Wire Reports

The woman involved in a July 20 head-on collision in Adams County that killed a motorcycling couple has been charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter.

Diane Prescott, 36, of Spokane will be arraigned Aug. 21 in 3rd District Court.

Prescott was attempting to pass a tractor-trailer truck in a no-passing zone and collided with Richard and Connie Gibbar of Lewiston, police said. The Gibbars died at the scene.

Prescott and her daughter were not injured.

Adams County Prosecutor Charles Kroll said the charges apply to Prescott because she was committing an unlawful act at the time of the accident. She faces a maximum jail sentence of one year and a $2,000 fine on each charge.

Connie Gibbar was an administrative assistant at Lewis-Clark State College. Richard Gibbar worked at Williams Equipment Co. as a parts man.
