Local Students Receive Grange Scholarships

Several Inland Northwest students received scholarships from the Washington State Grange Foundation.

The students, their parents, scholarships and colleges they attend or will attend in the fall are:

Brian Wise, son of Randall and Darlene Wise of Tekoa, Wash.; Kamerer Scholarship for $500; Walla Walla Community College.

Jill Jarvis, daughter of John Jarvis and Mary Parker, Cheney; $500 Delpha Goude Scholarship; Whitman College.

Nicholas Roth, son of Randy and Shirley Roth, Ritzville, Wash.; $500 Delpha Goude Scholarship; Berklee College of Music in Boston, majoring in music production and engineering.

Jennifer and Renee Dougherty, daughters of Jerry and Linda Dougherty, Reardan, Wash.; $500 Delpha Goude Scholarships; Eastern Washington University: Jennifer is majoring in accounting, and Renee in communication disorders.

Ana Kison, daughter of Ron and Mikki Kison, Ritzville; $500 Delpha Goude Scholarship; EWU, majoring in child development.

Trish Schwartz, daughter of Stan and Jill Schwartz, Reardan; $500 Delpha Goude Scholarship; Washington State University, majoring in general agriculture.

Jared Templin, son of Garrett and Carol Templin, Ritzville; $500 Delpha Goude Scholarship; WSU, majoring in agriculture technology and management.

Trevor Fox, son of Joseph and Truda Fox, Oakesdale, Wash.; $500 Delpha Goude Scholarship; EWU.

Jenifer Ramm, daughter of Robert and Marsha Ramm, Wilbur, Wash.; the Lone Oak Scholarship for $500; Northwest College, Kirkland, Wash.

Lisa Evans, daughter of Mike and Carol Evans, Spokane; Lone Oak Scholarship for $500; WSU, majoring in criminal justice.

Andrea Crumpler, daughter of Bradley and Sylvia Crumpler, Mead; Lone Oak Scholarship for $500; graduate of Seattle Pacific University.

Casey Kuchenbuck, son of Cary and Lynne Kuchenbuck, Wilbur; Lone Oak Scholarship for $500; WSU.

Jason Bishop, son of Michael and Patricia Bishop, Edwall, Wash.; Women’s Activities Scholarship Vocational Award for $500; Spokane Community College.

Kendra Sauvola, daughter of Ron and Janie Sauvola of Northport, Wash.; Enga Anderson Memorial Scholarship for $500; EWU.

David Cannon, Spokane, was one of 500 students across the nation to be cited for academic achievement by the Connie Belin & Jacqueline Blank International Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development at the University of Iowa.

The program recognizes 10th grade students who demonstrate high aptitude in English, mathematics, reading or science by virtue of their scores on the PLAN test.

Aimee Slater, daughter of Linda Pommies of Spokane, received a B.A. degree in history from Haverford (Pa.) College.

Corinne Krauss was cited in four areas during Montana State University-Bozeman’s Day of Student Recognition.

Krauss, a 1994 graduate of Cheney High School, was named a member of the Septemviri honorary, was honored as a Mortar Board member, and received the University Honors Program Leadership Award and a Junior Attainment Plaque.

Krauss, daughter of Ted and Lora Krauss, is a junior at MSU, majoring in physics.

Monet Hilson, a graduate of Ferris High School, has received a bachelor of arts degree in black studies, and women and gender studies, from Amherst (Mass.) College.

She is the daughter of Phyllis Hilson, Spokane.

Larry Fisher, an associate professor of construction management at Washington State University-Spokane, received WSU-Spokane’s Faculty Excellence Award.

He received a pewter medallion and a $1,000 check. The annual award is sponsored by Sterling Savings of Spokane.

Three spring high school graduates each received $500 scholarships from The Foothills Rural Association and Blue Ribbon Circle.

The students, their high schools, parents and the college they will attend in the fall are:

Sean Barker, East Valley High; Tom and Wendy Barker; Western Washington University.

Erin Britton Schwartz, Spokane Community College; Mike and Cheryl Britton; Eastern Washington University.

Holly Weiler, East Valley High; Ervin and Faye Weiler; Spokane Community College.

Several Inland Northwest spring high school graduates received scholarships to attend Seattle Pacific University in the fall.

Danielle Pulham, Ferris.

Jennifer Tilton, East Valley.

Trustee’s Scholar Award of $6,000:

Marisa Neste, University.

Christine O’Connor, Mead.

President’s Scholar Award of $5,500:

Carolyn Salina, Gonzaga Prep.

Jamie Wakefield, Mead.
