Mom Held For Speeding At Husband Kids In Car As Argument Accelerates, Police Report Says

A 26-year-old Spirit Lake woman was being held Monday on an aggravated assault charge, accused of trying to run over her husband while her children were in the car.

According to a sheriff’s report, Tina Lynn Waterman argued Friday morning with her estranged husband, Larry Taylor, 45, who had been staying at her apartment.

Taylor left after the argument and took some stereo equipment. Waterman went to Taylor’s Rathdrum home to retrieve the equipment about 12:15 p.m., the Kootenai County sheriff’s report said.

Instead, the two argued again when Waterman got out of her car. Taylor told Waterman to leave and walked toward her with a shovel in his hands, according to the report.

Waterman admitted getting back into her car and speeding the blue 1987 Pontiac 6000 toward Taylor’s car that was parked in the driveway, according to the report. She told deputies she skidded to a stop before hitting Taylor’s car and left after Taylor kicked her driver’s side door.

But Taylor told deputies Waterman rammed his blue 1982 Pontiac 2000 on the passenger side near the front bumper, backed up and gunned her car at him. Taylor said he dove against his dog kennel to avoid being hit by Waterman’s car, according to the report.

Taylor complained of a sore shoulder, but was not seriously injured. Waterman’s children - ages 5, 6 and 8 - were not hurt.

Waterman, who had been wanted on a Bonner County warrant for failing to show up for work release, also faces two charges of violating a protection order.
