Woman Goes In For $1, Gets $100,000

From Staff And Wire Reports

Doris Rector walked into a convenience store here Tuesday to collect the $1 she thought she won in the Powerball lottery drawing last week.

She stammered a bit when she was told the ticket was worth $100,000.

“I was shocked,” she said.

She said she wrote down the wrong numbers and thought she only matched three. In fact, she matched five, missing only the Powerball number for the $5 million jackpot.

The same store sold Russ Sherrod a Powerball ticket in July 1995 and he won $31.4 million.
