Man Charged After Shot Fired In Air

Compiled From Wire Services

A 26-year-old man is accused of firing a shot into the air near Napa Street and First Avenue on Saturday, said Dick Cottam, Spokane Police Department spokesman.

David Roland Kosola was arrested after he and a friend allegedly went to a residence in the area to retrieve a piece of machinery owned by his brother. When a nearby dog barked at the pair, Kosola fired into the air, Cottam said.

There were no injuries, but a slug fired into the air comes down with enough force to kill, Cottam said.

Kosola was charged with reckless endangerment.
