Schools Gear Up For Fall Registration Next Week In Many Districts; Most Classes Begin Sept. 2

School districts across the region start classes September 2, but registration is starting this week for many students.

Registration for Coeur d’Alene School District elementary students will be between noon and 7 p.m. Aug. 20 at their schools. Returning students must show proof of residency and new students should bring a certified birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residence.

All parents are asked to provide three emergency names and phone numbers for enrollment cards.

Orientation for Canfield sixth-graders is noon Aug. 26. Lakes sixth-grade will hold orientation at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 28. Seventh and eighth-graders from both schools may pick up their schedules Aug. 27.

Coeur d ‘Alene High School students will register Aug. 19-21 with Renaissance 4.0 students registering between 9 a.m. and noon Tuesday, followed by seniors from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, juniors from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, sophomores on Thursday morning and freshmen Thursday afternoon. CHS student pictures will be taken during registration.

Lake City seniors register 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 22, followed by juniors on Aug. 25, sophomores Aug. 26 and freshmen on Aug. 27. LHS picture day is Sept. 5.

High school yearbooks cost $35, an associated student body card costs $25. Freshmen and new students must pay a $5 locker fee.

Bus routes will be available on registration day and at the district’s booth at the North Idaho Fair starting Wednesday.

New Post Falls elementary students may register at the KinderCenter today until the start of school. An open house is scheduled for today from 11 a.m. to noon. New middle school students may register at the middle school from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Sept. 2.

New high school students in the freshmen and sophomore classes should register at 10 a.m. today. Juniors and senior new student registration is Wednesday at 10 a.m., also in the cafeteria.

Seventh grade orientation is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 28. Sixth grade orientation will be Sept. 4, with the morning shift from 6:15 to 7 p.m. and the afternoon shift from 7:15 to 8 p.m. The eighth grade open house will be Sept. 9 at 6:30 p.m.

Freshman orientation is Friday, Aug. 29 from 8-10:30 a.m.

All pre-registered students in grades 9-12 should report to the high school as follows: Tuesday, Aug. 26, seniors A-L from 9-10 a.m., M-Z from 10-11 a.m., juniors A-L from 1-2 p.m., M-Z from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, sophomores A-L from 9-10 a.m., M-Z from 10-11 a.m., freshmen A-L 1-2 p.m., M-Z 2-3 p.m.

Sandpoint High School student schedules will be available in the counseling office Thursday, Aug. 21 for seniors and juniors, Friday, Aug. 22 for sophomores and freshmen and for all students Aug. 25-27.

Students will receive class schedules, complete enrollment and information forms, get locker assignments and purchase student body cards.

Associated Student Body cards cost $22.50, or $20 if purchased during registration. New students in Sandpoint must bring immunization records, a birth certificate and the mailing address of the last school attended.

All Lakeland School District students in grades K-9 can register Aug. 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Aug. 26 from noon to 7 p.m. Seniors will register Aug. 25 from 9 a.m. to noon, juniors from noon to 3 p.m. and sophomores Aug. 26 from noon to 3 p.m.

Aug. 28 is the final registration day. Students who do not register on or before that date will be counted absent every day they are late registering, beginning Aug. 28.
