Teen Arrested For Burglary Attempt

A Spokane teenager was arrested and booked into jail for allegedly attempting burglary.

Spokane police arrested the teen for trying to enter a residence on East Rockwell early Saturday morning, said police spokesman Dick Cottam.

Police received a call from a resident who said a man was pounding on her door and had ripped the screen from the screen door, Cottam said.

When officers arrived at 2:30 a.m., they saw a man pounding on the front door and arrested him.

Reid H. Emery, 3106 W. Dalke, was booked into jail on attempted residential burglary, Cottam said.

Burglar tuned in

Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man who broke into an elderly man’s home and stole his guitar and song book.

The 78-year-old victim told deputies he was in his garage when the man drove up to the 7100 block of North Altamont in Morgan Acres in a white two-door car at 3 p.m. on Aug. 13, deputies said.

The man rang the doorbell. When no one answered, he walked in. The victim said he caught sight of the burglar as he was dashing out of the house with the guitar case in hand.

The victim said he caught up with him just as he jumped into the car. The victim pounded on the car with his crutches just before it sped away.

The victim described the burglar as a thin white male, in his 30s, wearing a white baseball cap with red trim.
