Youth’s Kick Knocks Woman To Ground

Janice Podsada Staff writer

Spokane police were called to the Safeway parking lot at 1617 W. Third about 2 a.m. Monday after a woman was reportedly kicked to the ground.

The 33-year-old woman said several young people sitting in two cars began calling her names and yelling at her and her male companion as they were walking from the store, police said.

The woman told police she responded by telling the youths in one of the cars that they were rude.

One of the suspects then jumped out of the car and kicked the woman in the chest, knocking her to the ground, police said.

After kicking the woman, the youths drove off.

Police took the woman to an area hospital, where she was examined and released.

Police said they have information regarding one of the vehicles.

Man arrested after weapon fired

A Spokane man was arrested on Saturday after neighbors called police to report gunfire.

Police arrested David Roland Kosola, 26, about 8 p.m. Saturday after neighbors called police.

Witnesses near Napa and First said they heard gunshots and saw two white males in the area, police said.

Kosola and a passenger were stopped as they were driving away, police said.

Kosola, 3107 E. 28th, told police that he and a friend had gone to a home in the area to retrieve a piece of machinery owned by his brother. Kosola said a dog barked and he fired one shot into the air.

The passenger in the car was released.

There were no injuries, but police charged Kosola with reckless endangerment, noting the neighborhood is both residential and business.
