FOR THE RECORD (August 27, 1997): Silver production: Sunshine Mining Co. will produce 9.1 million ounces of silver annually at its Pirquitas mine in Argentina. A brief in Tuesday’s paper reported the wrong amount.
Sunshine Mining and Refining Co. of Boise said Monday it has found profitable silver reserves at its Argentinian mine.
During a pre-feasibility study of the Pirquitas mine in northwest Argentina, Sunshine said it found 66.9 million ounces of silver reserves. It expects to add more reserves following additional drilling.
Sunshine owns the Sunshine Mine in the Coeur d’Alene Mining District in North Idaho.
Sunshine will spend about $100 million to put the main pit in production. During the eight-year mine life, Sunshine plans to produce 1.9 million ounces of silver and 4,100 tons of tin annually. , DataTimes
