Man Brandishes Machete In Dispute

From Staff Reports

A Post Falls man was jailed Wednesday following a dispute that ended with the man wielding a machete, deputies said.

Channing S. Bourne, 28, was charged with battery and released on his own recognizance Thursday from the Kootenai County Jail.

Bourne began arguing with Wesley Walker, 46, when he refused to take his camper off Bourne’s Post Falls property, according a Kootenai County sheriff’s report.

A woman, who came with Walker to remove their belongings from Bourne’s property, pushed Bourne in the chest while trying to separate the two men. Bourne responded by punching Walker in the face, the report said.

Walker grabbed a hammer to protect himself and Bourne picked up a machete that had been sitting on a bench, the report said.

Fearing Bourne would attack him with the machete, Walker put down the hammer, according to deputies. Bourne also dropped the machete, and the two separated until deputies arrived.
