Ah Yat Leads Grizzlies In First Fall Scrimmage
Brian Ah Yat hit Travis Walker on a 5-yard scoring pass Saturday, the only touchdown in Montana’s first scrimmage of the fall.
Kris Heppner, who kicked the extra point, also connected on field goals of 37 and 22 yards.
“It was good from the standpoint the kids flew around,” said second-year UM coach Mick Dennehy.
“We’re not as polished as we could be, but that is typical for our first scrimmage. They’re getting better and better.”
Ah Yat completed 4 of 7 passes for 34 yards. His three incompletions were the result of dropped passes.
“Brian is playing with so much confidence right now,” Dennehy said. “We’ll see a different player this year. He’s a pretty fiery guy and that competitiveness will take him to a new level.”
Backup QB Darren Rowell hit all six of his attempts for 60 yards.
