Fred McGriff homered twice for Atlanta and Boston’s Nomar Garciaparra went hitless on Saturday as the Braves continued to exact revenge on the team that chased them out of Boston, beating the Red Sox 15-2.
Garciaparra’s hit streak ended at 30 - a record for A.L. rookies and tied for the longest in the majors this year - but short of Benito Santiago’s major league rookie record of 34.
Kevin Millwood (3-3) got Garciaparra to hit three fly balls, one of them a sacrifice fly, and reliever Mike Cather got him on a line drive to left in his last at-bat, in the eighth.
The Braves got 19 hits and matched a season-high for runs, with Chipper Jones tying an Atlanta record by scoring five times.

Players from both benches and bullpens came running onto the field. Play was halted for four minutes as players wrestled.

Expos 7, Yankees 2 New York

On Fletcher’s three-run homer, outfielder Paul O’Neill seemed to have it as he approached the wall in right. He leaped but came down empty handed as a fan pulled the ball over the wall. O’Neill threw his arms up in disgust and yelled toward the young man, who celebrated his catch before being ejected by stadium security.
Mets 13, Orioles 6 Baltimore
Bernard Gilkey had three hits, including a three-run homer for New York.
