Harchuck’s Miss Keys Shadle Park Win

Prep basketball

Sara Harchuck scored 24 points Thursday, but one of her missed shots helped guide Shadle Park (1-0) to a 56-54 overtime win over visiting Cheney.

Cheney (0-1) led the non-league girls basketball game 49-46 with 7 seconds left.

Harchuck, fouled on a 3-point attempt, made the first free throw and missed the second. She purposely missed the third free throw, gained the rebound and scored on a putback.

Cheney’s Anna Getz, a career 1,000-point scorer, missed a last-second shot in overtime.

Four players fouled out, including three for Shadle. Sophomore Demetrius Scott of Shadle fouled out after scoring 24.

W-C made 17 of 21 free throws. The Wildcats, topped by Mike Samuels’ 15 points, lost to the Raiders by one point Tuesday.
