Former Camp Fire Leader Pleads Guilty To Grand Theft

Associated Press

A former Camp Fire director faces up to 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to grand theft for embezzling money from the youth group.

Debra Ann Johnson, 46, allegedly embezzled money during 18 months, including proceeds from fund-raising projects such as candy sales.

Johnson will be sentenced March 17 if the amount she owes the Camp Fire organization can be determined by then, 6th District Judge Randy Smith said Friday.

Johnson was fired as Camp Fire director last May 17 after an internal investigation into unpaid bills was conducted by the Camp Fire board.
