Kathleen Hansen Chosen Employee Of The Month

Kathleen Hansen has been chosen by her peers as the Best Western Templin’s Resort’s Employee of the Month for January.

Hansen, a bartender in Mallard’s Lounge and part-time food server, has worked at the resort since September 1995 and was cited for a unique ability to cross-sell amenities to guests and co-workers and being flexible and dependable.

Army Pvt. Jason LaMonda, son of Charles and Debbie LaMonda, Rathdrum, has graduated as a heavy equipment operator at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

LaMonda, a 1996 graduate of Rathdrum’s Lakeland High School. was trained in operation and maintenance of crawler tractors, front-end loaders, wheeled tractors and motor graders as well as receiving basic combat engineer training.

The Lt. George Farragut Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently honored several local students with awards. The students and their awards are listed.

Gina Mitchell, a Post Falls High School senior, and Lucy Scantlebury, a Coeur d’Alene High School senior, both received the Good Citizenship Award.

The awards were based on community and school activities, school records and faculty recommendations.

Daniel Drew, an eighth-grader at Lakeland Junior High School and student of Connie McGee, received a medal for winning first place in the 1997 DAR American History Essay Contest.

Drew, son of Larry and Toby Drew of Rathdrum, will have his essay entered into state competition with the chance to compete in the national competition.

Certificates of Merit were awarded to 23 other students who entered the contest.
