From Staff And Wire Reports

Four people were killed in a two-car collision Saturday morning on U.S. 97 near this central Washington town, the Washington State Patrol said.

It was foggy and there was slush and ice on the road when a northbound car collided with a southbound car in the southbound lanes, the patrol said.

All four victims were in the northbound car. They were identified as Maria Godinez Hernandez, 37; Ana Cisneros Orozco, 28; Lidubina Torres, 22; and Ramona Torres, 43, all of Bridgeport.

The driver of the second car, Shane Lee Ely, 40, of Omak, was taken to a hospital for treatment of neck pain and a cut on the right arm.

A three-mile stretch of U.S. 97 was closed for several hours due to the accident. Traffic was rerouted onto old Highway 97.
