Jeremy Harvey Chosen To Attend Conference

Jeremy Harvey, a sophomore at Lewis and Clark High School, was selected to attend the National Young Leaders Conference this month in Washington, D.C. The conference is for students who have demonstrated leadership potential and scholastic merit. Harvey was one of 350 students selected nationwide.

Both Sarah Baxter, a student at Garry Middle School, and Audum Hart, of Chewelah (Wash.) Jenkins High School, won first place in the American History Essay Award Contest sponsored by the Esther Reed Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.

Baxter titled her essay “Trails West,” while Hart’s was “The Voyage of Amerigo Vespucci.”

Western Washington University named the following Inland Northwest students to the fall honor roll:

Sarah Pollock and Sarah Rowe, Chattaroy; Eric Erickson and Lacey Witham, Colbert; Kathleen Schreck, Davenport, Wash.; Kelly Nedved, Deer Park; Amy Vira, Ephrata, Wash.; Patrick Kohl, Medical Lake; Jason Randles, Newport, Wash.; and Carrie Field, Nine Mile Falls.

Cassandra Baddeley and Joseph Thomas, Prosser, Wash.; and Melissa Brown and Kristopher McDaniel, Pullman.

From Spokane were David Johnson, Tracie Sammons, Tamara Swingle, Jennifer Wilson, Kimberly Allen, Shannon Anderson, Charles Bailey, James Baird, Dana Brannan, Jessica Caplan, William Dirks, Sarah Hiss, Kari Klonoff, Heather Leeming, Brynn McInturff, David McIvor, Breanna Nadeau, Michael Neff, Darci Nelson, Emily Peterson, Andrew Richardson, Jillian Wallach and James Watts IV.

The Pullman Chamber of Commerce recently named two seniors as Students of the Month for January:

Niki Wollkind, daughter of Blanche McKennon, is a member of Future Problem Solvers, Service Club, National Honor Society and the Pullman School District’s Equity Committee. She received a scholarship to the National Youth Leadership Conference in Washington D.C., where she was elected alumni representative.

Ming-Chieh Ding, son of Jow-Liam and Lien-Chieh Ding, is an Eagle Scout and is a member of the National Honor Society, Future Problem Solving and Knowledge Bowl. Ding is a National Merit Semifinalist and a member of the U.S. First Robotics Team.
