Daisy Girl Scout Troop Holds Investiture Ceremony

District 690 Daisy Girl Scout Troop No. 75, Coeur d’Alene’s only Daisy Troop, recently held it’s Investiture Ceremony at Harding Family Center. The following Daisies, who are in their first year of the Girl Scouts of America organization, were recognized with a Girl Scout pin and certificate: Shayla Adkins, Mikala Dixon, Brittany Kaye Eustice, Jenna Fordham, Sandy Hicks, Kaitlyn Richmond, Mandy Scott, Renee Sutton, and Brittany Washington.

Tammy Washington, serves as troop leader and Mikki Scott, and Suzanne Sutton, are co-leaders.

The Inland Empire Council of the Camp Fire Boys and Girls recently honored outstanding adult volunteers at a luncheon at the Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute in Spokane. Recipients and their awards are listed below by hometown:

Lester and Getty Wildman, Coeur d’Alene, and United Way of Kootenai County, Plaque of Appreciation; Glenda Knox, Genesee, Hiiteni Award for Extensive and Innovative Service; Karen Ghiraduzzi, Coeur d’Alene, and Patti Humphreys, and Heidi Sayler, both of Lewiston, and Camy Lisher, Potlatch, Wakan Award for Exceptional and Imaginative Leadership.

Ponderosa Elementary School in Post Falls recently held the 1997 Invention Convention for students in first through sixth grades. Winners who qualify to take their working model inventions to the regional level are listed by grade below.

Working models

First Place - Grades 1-2: Jessica Hunt; Grades 3-4: Zachary Glatt; Grades 5-6: Brian Cornutt.

Second place - Laura Adamchak.

Point qualifier - Natasha Love.

Non-working models

First Place - Grades 1-2: Jake Krause; Grades 3-4: Jenna Sloyka; Grades 5-6: Zach McCall.

Second place - Michal Felice Sandford.

Point qualifier - Sami Easterly.

Adaption - Grades 3-4: Jordy Patano; Grades 5-6: Laura Treat and Kayla Ellis.
