Chewelah Ties Ml For Second In Nea
Area boys basketball
Chewelah didn’t defend its Northeast A League title this year, but the Cougars are in position for the next best thing.
Steve Wissink scored 24 and Josh Parrish had six rebounds Friday as the Cougars (14-6, 10-4) closed the league season by defeating visiting Deer Park 74-31. The Cougars’ eighth consecutive victory leaves them tied with Medical Lake for second place.
Since the top two league finishers earn opening-round byes to the District 7-A Tournament, Chewelah and ML will have a playoff at 7 Monday night in Deer Park.
DP (0-20, 0-14) will open next season on a 24-game tailspin.
