Gsl Leaders Pushed To Limit By Underdogs

GSL girls

The underdogs made it interesting but they couldn’t change the balance of power in Greater Spokane League girls basketball Friday night.

Fifth-ranked Central Valley needed 30 points from Crystal Lee to edge Lewis and Clark 53-47. Sixth-ranked Mead stayed in first place, a half-game ahead of CV, by outscoring Shadle Park 23-0 in the fourth quarter to win 59-36. And Gonzaga Prep needed a big third quarter to shake off Rogers 59-46.

CV 53, LC 47

The Tigers (6-8, 8-10) couldn’t come up with an answer for Lee, although they gave the visiting Bears (13-1, 16-2) a scare.

LC trailed by three with a minute left. Mary Thompson and Carlin Oeljen had seven rebounds each for LC. Lee pulled down 10 rebounds for CV.
