Four Individual Titles Carry EV To Region Iv-Aa Crown

East Valley won four individual titles and easily claimed the team championship Saturday at the Region IV-AA wrestling meet in Selah.

Quinton Chapman (135 pounds), Brad Crockett (141), Christopher Duncan (168) and Tristan Beeman (190) won titles as the Knights piled up 187 points. EV’s Justin Walker also advanced to the title match, losing to Prosser’s Andy Soliman.

Runner-up Ellensburg, with no champions, scored 121.5. Sunnyside had champs at 101, 108 and 115 to place third with 100.5 points.

The top four in each weight division advance to Mat Classic IX, Friday and Saturday in the Tacoma Dome. EV will send nine wrestlers to state.

Clarkston had the second-best showing from the Frontier League, earning a title at 178 with Tyson Thivierge and a runner-up at 108 with Mike Reyes. The Bantams, who placed fifth with 76.5 points, will send four to state.

No other Frontier teams had finalists. Cheney will send two to state, while West Valley, Riverside, Pullman and Colville qualified one apiece. , DataTimes
