West Valley Beats Riverside, Clinches Tie For League Crown

Frontier League

A combination of defense, balanced scoring and offensive rebounding has led West Valley to its first Frontier League girls basketball title in 15 years.

Gabby McClintock and Stacey Roberts combined for 18 rebounds Saturday as the visiting Eagles (15-2, 10-0) beat Riverside 57-44 at Chattaroy to clinch at least a tie for their first title since 1981-82.

With the Rams dropping to 12-7, 8-3, Cheney is the lone team that could tie WV.

WV, winner of 15 straight, forced 19 turnovers and totaled 11 offensive rebounds in the first half. The Eagles have five players who have scored 8 points per game or more in league games.
