Post Falls Goes 8-0

Idaho boys basketball

Solid defense on Saturday allowed Post Falls to wrap up a perfect Inland Empire League boys basketball season.

The Trojans (17-3, 8-0) held Lewiston (9-11, 3-5) to 32 percent shooting from the field during a 60-47 win at Lewiston.

Chad Quesnell hit 6 of 10 field goals and Brason Alexander made 5 of 6 free throws for Post Falls. Lewiston’s Aaron White hit 4 of 7 field goals, including three 3-pointers, and 4 of 6 from the line.

The A-1 Region II playoffs open tonight with No. 5 Sandpoint against the fourth seed, either Lewiston or Lake City. The double-elimination portion of the tourney opens Wednesday at Post Falls.

Despite giving up a 10-point, third-quarter lead, the visiting Badgers (10-7, 5-5) held on to beat the Hawks (6-10, 3-5) at Rathdrum when Lakeland had an 18-footer hit the rim twice and bound away at the end of the second overtime.

Lakeland also missed a shot in regulation that would have won the game. BF’s Adam Hiatt blew a layup at the buzzer in the first overtime.

Lakeland’s Ryan Banks and Paul Kowalcyzk combined to hit 14 of 31 field goals and pull down 16 rebounds.

BF moved from fifth place to third with the win. The league season ends Saturday.
