Spotted Horse Scores 29 As Knights Stun Clarkston

The East Valley Knights won’t compete in the playoffs, but they can still make it rough on the teams that will.

James Spotted Horse scored 29 points and Mitch Johnson contributed 16 assists Tuesday night as EV (2-17, 1-10) beat visiting Clarkston 97-65 in a Frontier League boys game postponed from Jan. 24.

The Knights had lost eight straight games and had been eliminated from the District 7-AA race. Clarkston (12-5, 5-5) owns wins over first-place Colville and West Valley, which is tied for second.

Heather Heytvelt had 10 rebounds and Cinnamon Anderson’s basket with 42 seconds left helped the Bantams (4-13, 3-7) clinch a win over the Knights (5-14, 2-9).

EV’s Tricia Stookey missed a 3-pointer for a tie with 15 seconds left. Teammate Rebecca Trip-lett’s putback accounted for the final score.

Clarkston tied Colville for fourth place. EV dropped to seventh and last place, one-half game behind Pullman (2-8) with one game remaining, Friday against Clarkston again.

Six teams advance to the District 7-AA Tournament.
