Concerts Planned At Emmanuel Lutheran

The Music at Emmanuel concert series will soon be under way at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 314 S. Spruce.

A performance featuring the music of Franz Schubert will be presented Sunday at 1 p.m. Pianist Susan Chan of Washington State University will perform along with flutist Linda Lamkin of Indiana University.

The second performance in the two-concert series will be at 1 p.m. on March 9. The music of J.S. Bach, Calvin Hampton and Gordon Jacob will be performed by flutist Gale Coffee of the Spokane Symphony and organist Keith Thomas of Emmanuel Lutheran, who also plays oboe in the Spokane Symphony.

The suggested donation for tickets is $5 for each performance or $8 for both. Tickets will be available in advance from Emmanuel Lutheran or at the door.

Learn to harness ‘The Force’

“Star Wars” is the theme of the Lenten study group that will begin meeting Wednesday at Centenary United Methodist Church, 1012 S. Freya.

The group will explore the themes of redemption, the journey of Christ the hero, and the channeling of “The Force” to get courage to face impossible odds.

The study group will meet every Wednesday for a month. The evenings will start with a dramatic presentation at 7 p.m.

Children and youth in grades K-12 will participate in games, activities, and craft projects while the adults meet for discussion.

Child care will be provided for children not old enough to participate in the activities.

Advance registration is requested, but there is no fee required to participate.

Dancers will perform at dinner

All are welcome to attend the Transylvania Partnership Supper at the Unitarian Universalist Church Saturday at 6 p.m. The Erdely Hungarian Dance Ensemble will perform.

Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for children and $15 for families. The money raised will be sent to the church’s sister church, the Unitarian Church of Felsorakos in Romania.

The church is at 4340 W. Fort George Wright Drive.

Rededicate your relationship

The Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard, will host a special service of rededication for couples on Saturday at 12:15 p.m.

All couples who are married or are in an enduring relationship are invited to participate in the service. Commemorative certificates will be available to those who request them.

Cheney church hosts potluck

All are invited to a potluck fellowship dinner at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Cheney Community Church, 1307 Third in Cheney. No advance registration is required.
