Retired Tuskegee Airmen To Speak At Base

They fought both Nazism and racism in World War II.

Known as the Tuskegee Airmen, the group of black Army Air Force men not only became one of the most decorated squadrons in military history, they also pushed the military toward full integration.

Two of the original airmen - Col. James T. Wiley and Lt. Col. William Holloman III will be at Fairchild Air Force Base on Friday.

The retired officers will speak at the annual Heritage Banquet, which starts at 6 p.m. in the Fairchild Ballroom.

Hosted by the Fairchild African American Club, the banquet’s theme this year is “Golden Legacy.”
